Sierra Foothills
For many years, the Sierra Foothills region has been one of California's best kept wine secrets. This picturesque region features small, distinctive vineyards and wineries, beautiful scenery, quiet country roads, fresh air and clear skies. The vineyards in the Sierra Foothills region are planted at elevations ranging from 1,500 to 3,000 feet, which gives these vineyards a true four-season climate, including snow in the winter. During spring, summer and fall, this area experiences warm days and cool nights, a perfect situation for growing hearty grape varietals such as zinfandel and syrah, which can withstand the varying temperatures.
