So signing up for this tour seemed a best was to do selected tours with an expert guide of the area. With Polina who was assigned to us for the day, she did excellent work in preparing for the tour by understanding our desires of a large wine area and putting a tight but exciting schedule for the day. She picked us up from the hotel and shared with us the details of the wine making knowledge and supplemented all day with visits in a constrained time schedule. We did visit the Margaux, Saint Julien and Pauillac appellations both for tasting as well as how the wine making has evolved with technology. His English is great, he\u2019s very personable, wonderful driver and having grown up in Bordeaux Alex was able to offer his vast knowledge on not only the wine region but of Bordeaux itself. He listened to what we wanted to see on our tour and organized a great day for us in the 2 regions we wanted to explore to the best of his ability. We were aware that some of the wineries do not allow visitors and also in august a lot of the wineries close for summer holidays, so leaving the planning up to Alex definitely saved a lot of time and effort. He even took me to chateaus that were not open, if only for the experience of appreciating the architecture and history.
