Traditional Andalusian white houses seem to cling over the abyss, which is bridged by one of Spain\u2019s most photographed architectural features: <em>Puente Nuevo<\/em>, the \u2018new bridge.\u2019 However, the stone edifice is hardly new, with construction completed in 1793.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Where to Stay<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Stay at <strong><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.winetraveler.com\/qite\" target=\"_blank\">Parador de Ronda<\/a><\/strong> for its spectacular location beside the town\u2019s emblematic Puente Nuevo. Ronda\u2019s wine-making history dates back over 2000 years, when Romans cultivated vines and produced wine here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today vintner Joaquin Fern\u00e1ndez wants you to enjoy wine just as any true Andalusian does. So besides exceptional wines, he\u2019s created <strong><a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wineronda.com\/fernandez\" target=\"_blank\">Bodega Joaqu\u00edn Fern\u00e1ndez<\/a><\/strong> in the countryside, where enthusiasts can sit back and enjoy views and traditional foods. \u201cI don\u2019t let anything unnatural touch my wine. Even the corks are made from the best quality cork you can get,\u201d says Fern\u00e1ndez of his ecologically produced Finca Los Frutales wines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Where to Eat<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Walk a few blocks past the restaurants that line \u201cEl Tajo,\u201d the cliff near Puente Nuevo frequented by the tourist crowd. Better experiences and moderate prices await at mom-and-pops like <strong>Sensur Gastrobar<\/strong>, <strong>Restaurante Tropicana<\/strong> or <strong>Entre Vinos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Additional Things to Do<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Author Ernest Hemingway recommended that if you saw only one bullfight, you should see it in Spain\u2019s oldest existing bullring <strong><a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rmcr.org\/es\/visita.html\" target=\"_blank\">Plaza de Toros<\/a><\/strong> in Ronda. Unfortunately, however, bullfights happen only once per year in September. You can, nonetheless, tour the architectural marvel most days. Arabs who ruled Spain from 711-1492 built their Mosque and orange gardens over a Visigothic Christian church. The Mosque was converted to a Cathedral in 1236 after the Christian forces of Castile regained control of C\u00f3rdoba.
