We love Provence. Moving on from larger cities in the region like Nice and Marseille, it&#8217;s well worth a stop at some of the smaller and truly picturesque hilltop villages. Gordes is one such village with all of the quaint, small-town, cobblestone street charm you can expect to find. This small village folded into the sweeping green valleys of Provence has a big heart, beating with some of the best cuisine in the region, boutique wine shops, and ancient streets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Historic is an understatement when mentioning Saint-R\u00e9my. It was once the ancient Roman city of Glanum, and still plays host to its ruins and the quarry that was once used to build much of its stone structures. Moving on through the centuries, it became something of an artist and philosopher&#8217;s pilgrimage, with Van Gogh and others producing a number of famous works here. It&#8217;s also where Nostradamus was born, and you can still walk by what remains of that house today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><a name=\"bordeaux\"><\/a>Bordeaux<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Wine lovers will already be familiar with the <strong><a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.winetraveler.com\/wine-region\/bordeaux\/\" target=\"_blank\">wine region of Bordeaux<\/a><\/strong>. But it&#8217;s also a city.
